NEWARK, N.J. (AP) _ Genie Energy Ltd. (GNE) on Thursday reported a first-quarter loss of $2 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Newark, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 9 cents per share.

The provider of oil and gas energy services posted revenue of $135.3 million in the period.

Genie Energy shares have declined 20% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 24% in the last 12 months.
