According to the Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Administration, the projects were implemented through a combination of public and private sector investment and are primarily centered at Shahid Rajaee Port, Iran’s largest commercial port.

The newly inaugurated projects include the construction of container services and container cargo terminals, the commissioning of a pilot boat, deployment of five new transtainers (RTG cranes), construction of transit and export cargo terminals, and optimization and expansion of strategic port equipment.

Infrastructure upgrades were also completed, including major repairs to the perimeter wall of Shahid Rajaee Port and rehabilitation of the coastal protection wall in Gorzine, Qeshm. These works aim to enhance safety standards, prevent coastal erosion, and strengthen maritime tourism infrastructure.

The investment projects are expected to increase container handling capacity by more than 166,000 TEUs and generate 330 jobs. Additionally, a €29.5 million private-sector investment and a €16 million equipment procurement by the Ports and Maritime Organization will significantly accelerate container loading and unloading operations at the port.

Officials say the projects will enhance logistics efficiency, reduce vessel waiting times, and further strengthen Shahid Rajaee Port’s role in regional and international trade.
