It is commonly believed that nowadays main factors that affect a child's development are media, pop culture and friends. A different point of view is that family plays the most significant role.

The fact that social media and friends have a impact on children is obvious to all. While many believe family has the largest effect on children others argue the role of  families compared to friends and media is next to nothing. In my view, social media has a undeniable effect on a child.

On the one hand, families passe their values on to children. Children learn basic values like, empathy, honesty and helping others from the families. Indeed, personality of children emerges in the earlier years of their life in which they live beside their family members. Moreover, many children take a look at their parents as a role model. So, whenever parents do a activity, they easily adapt them.

On the other hand, social culture get children to adopt. Same as other parts of a society, children establish their subcommunity based on their self-designed values. So, a children have to adapt to these patterns to be accepted by other members. If they deny these value, they will be rejected by their classmates or  childhood friends leading to depression and other mental disorders. Indeed, children usually listen to their friends rather than parents because they are link-minded and they comprehend their friends deeply. Indeed, Nowadays, children especially unsupervised ones spend a vast amount of time on social media. Therefore, it is crystal clear that they have been affected by social media. As time goes by, the effect of parents on children decreases to a great extent because they prefer to gather with their friends.

In conclusion, although parents in the earlier years of life has a profoundly significant impact on children, the role of friends is much more important. In my opinion, major proportion of children’s personality is made up by their friends.
