CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) _ HubSpot Inc. (HUBS) on Wednesday reported a loss of $23.2 million in its first quarter.

The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 50 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 31 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 29 cents per share.

The cloud-based marketing and sales software platform posted revenue of $281.4 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $264 million.

For the current quarter ending in July, HubSpot expects its per-share earnings to range from 30 cents to 32 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $293 million to $297 million for the fiscal second quarter.

HubSpot expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.61 to $1.65 per share, with revenue ranging from $1.24 billion to $1.25 billion.

HubSpot shares have risen 27% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $503.01, nearly tripling in the last 12 months.
