WASHINGTON (AP) _ Vanda Pharmaceuticals Inc. (VNDA) on Wednesday reported first-quarter net income of $8.7 million.

The Washington-based company said it had profit of 15 cents per share.

The biopharmaceutical company posted revenue of $62.7 million in the period.

Vanda shares have risen 26% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $16.58, a climb of 41% in the last 12 months.
