PROVO, Utah (AP) _ Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. (NUS) on Wednesday reported first-quarter net income of $47.4 million.

The Provo, Utah-based company said it had net income of 91 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 72 cents per share.

The seller of skin care and nutritional products through a direct-selling model posted revenue of $677 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $633.3 million.

For the current quarter ending in July, Nu Skin said it expects revenue in the range of $680 million to $705 million.

The company expects full-year earnings to be $4.05 to $4.30 per share, with revenue ranging from $2.8 billion to $2.87 billion.

Nu Skin shares have declined slightly more than 2% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $53.40, a climb of 95% in the last 12 months.
