SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) _ Trimble Navigation Ltd. (TRMB) on Wednesday reported first-quarter earnings of $114.5 million.

On a per-share basis, the Sunnyvale, California-based company said it had profit of 45 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 66 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 56 cents per share.

The GPS manufacturer posted revenue of $886.5 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $826.3 million.

Trimble expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.30 to $2.50 per share, with revenue in the range of $3.4 billion to $3.5 billion.

Trimble shares have increased 21% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $81.11, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
