MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Techne Corp. (TECH) on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter profit of $45.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Minneapolis-based company said it had net income of $1.12. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.79 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.50 per share.

The maker of medical testing and diagnostic products posted revenue of $243.6 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $225.8 million.

Techne shares have climbed 31% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 69% in the last 12 months.
