DALLAS (AP) _ Atmos Energy Corp. (ATO) on Wednesday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $296.8 million.

The Dallas-based company said it had net income of $2.30 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.05 per share.

The natural gas utility posted revenue of $1.32 billion in the period.

Atmos expects full-year earnings to be $4.90 to $5.10 per share.

Atmos shares have increased slightly more than 7% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $102.53, a rise of almost 1% in the last 12 months.
