AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Upland Software Inc. (UPLD) on Wednesday reported a loss of $20.7 million in its first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Austin, Texas-based company said it had a loss of 69 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 60 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 41 cents per share.

The maker of cloud-based enterprise work-management software posted revenue of $74 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $73.2 million.

For the current quarter ending in July, Upland Software said it expects revenue in the range of $73 million to $77 million.

The company expects full-year revenue in the range of $299 million to $311 million.

Upland Software shares have increased roughly 2% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $46.61, a rise of 58% in the last 12 months.
