NORWALK, Conn. (AP) _ Booking Holdings Inc. (BKNG) on Wednesday reported a loss of $55 million in its first quarter.
The Norwalk, Connecticut-based company said it had a loss of $1.34 per share. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $5.26 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $7.26 per share.
The online booking service posted revenue of $1.14 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.12 billion.
Booking Holdings shares have increased nearly 5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $2,335, a climb of 68% in the last 12 months.
