Shares of Honest Co. , the eco-friendly consumer-goods business co-founded by actress Jessica Alba, rose nearly 44% in their first public trading on Wednesday.
Honest’s shares closed at $23, putting a value on the company of $2.68 billion. The initial public offering price was $16.
The Los Angeles company specializes in baby products such as diapers, clothes, bath items and skin care, as well as household products and face masks. Honest’s shares are listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the symbol HNST.
The IPO handed Honest more than $100 million, which the company plans to use for expanding its product lines and geographic reach.
Honest’s share of the natural products market in the U.S. is less than 5%, according to the company.
