HAMILTON, Bermuda (AP) _ Ardmore Shipping Corp. (ASC) on Wednesday reported a first-quarter loss of $8.5 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Hamilton, Bermuda-based company said it had a loss of 26 cents.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 28 cents per share.
The shipping company posted revenue of $45.6 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $25.2 million, which also topped Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $24.9 million.
The company’s shares closed at $4.08. A year ago, they were trading at $6.82.
