NEW YORK (AP) _ New Residential Investment Corp. (NRZ) on Wednesday reported first-quarter net income of $291.9 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The New York-based company said it had profit of 65 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 34 cents per share.

The results matched Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 34 cents per share.

The real estate investment trust posted revenue of $253.7 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $134.8 million.

New Residential Investment shares have climbed nearly 7% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 75% in the last 12 months.
