DENVER (AP) _ Intrepid Potash Inc. (IPI) on Monday reported first-quarter net income of $2.5 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Denver-based company said it had profit of 18 cents.

The potash and fertilizer producer posted revenue of $71.5 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $59.4 million.

Intrepid Potash shares have increased 39% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $33.62, more than tripling in the last 12 months.
