رئیس جمعیت هلال‌احمر گفت که در شرایط فعلی این جمعیت 50‌درصد شانس کسب کرسی نایب‌ رئیسی فدراسیون بین‌المللی جمعیت‌های صلیب‌سرخ و هلال‌احمر را دارد. دکتر امیرمحسن ضیایی در مورد نامزدشدن ایران برای کسب کرسی نایب‌رئیسی فدراسیون بین‌المللی جمعیت‌های صلیب‌سرخ و هلال‌احمر اظهار کرد: درحال حاضر فرصت مناسبی برای ما ایجاد شده است، زیرا تعدادی از جمعیت‌های ناحیه آسیا و اقیانوسیه به دلایل مختلفی نمی‌توانند در انتخابات شرکت کنند. رئیس جمعیت هلال‌احمر ادامه داد: از همین‌رو ایران در موقعیت مناسبی قرار دارد و درحال حاضر فکر می‌کنم که ایران حداقل 50‌درصد شانس دارد تا این کرسی را به دست آورد. وی در ادامه گفت: با این حال تا زمان برگزاری انتخابات که آبان‌ماه است، باید تلاش بیشتری کنیم تا همکاری‌های بیشتری را جلب کنیم، زیرا تمام کشورهای دنیا باید به ما رأی بدهند و اینطور نیست که برای کرسی آسیا و اقیانوسیه تنها کشورهای این منطقه رأی دهند. ضیایی در مورد فعالیت‌های ایران در راستای بالابردن شانس به دست آوردن این کرسی گفت: ما پذیرای جمعیت‌های زیادی در کشور بودیم. همچنین به کشورهای بسیاری سفر کردیم، ضمن این‌که در شهریور برای کنفرانسی با عنوان صلح و بشردوستی میزبان 15 جمعیت ملی هستیم. اینها به ما کمک می‌کند تا خودمان را نشان دهیم و بگوییم که حرفی برای گفتن داریم. رئیس جمعیت هلال‌احمر در پاسخ به این سوال که مهمترین رقیب ایران برای کسب کرسی آسیا و اقیانوسیه کدام کشور است، اظهار کرد: «چین» اصلی‌ترین رقیب ماست، زیرا جمعیت این کشور درحال حاضر نایب‌رئیس و طبیعی است که برای دور دوم نیز در انتخابات شرکت خواهد کرد.

The President of Iranian Red Crescent Society said: In the current situation, Iranian Red Crescent Society has 50 percent chance of being elected as vice president of the International Federation of Red Crescent Societies and Red Crescent Societies.
Dr. Amir Mohsen Ziaie, regarding the candidacy of Iran to become vice president of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, said: Right now, a good opportunity has been created for us, because a number of the societies in Asia Pacific region cannot participate in the election because of various reasons. The president of the Red Crescent Society continued: Therefore, Iran is in a good position, and at the moment I think that Iran has at least 50 percent chance to win the election.He continued: However, by the time the elections will be hold in November, we need to try to attract more cooperation, because all the countries in the world should vote for us, and it is not that the only countries in the region, vote for the Asia and Pacific region.Ziaie referring to the activities of Iran to increase the chances of gaining this position said: we welcomed a lot of societies in the country. We also traveled to many countries, while in September we hosted 15 national societies for a conference which is called Peace and Humanity. These help us to show ourselves and say that we have something to say.The president of the Red Crescent Society, responding to the question that which country is the most important competitor for Asia Pacific election said: China is our main competitor, because the society of this country is currently the vice president and it is natural that it will be in the election for the second time.
